The Cons of Roseville, CA
In addition to its many pros, there are a few cons to consider about Roseville.
1. Heavy Traffic
Roseville is a busy and always-growing city near Sacramento.
If you want to work in Sacramento and live in Roseville, you’re going to find that the commute is at least 40 minutes both ways in pretty heavy traffic.
Besides that, there are so many great shopping opportunities that Roseville proper is just full of people traveling back and forth. Walkability is not great in Roseville either, so there’s not really the option to skip out on the car ride and walk to your destination in most situations.
If you’re not into heavy traffic or spending hours in the car, Roseville may not be the best place to set up residence.
2. New Construction
There is an Old Town Roseville with lots of gorgeous, vintage-style homes, but this area is not really a popular place to buy and sell.
Most homes you’ll find in Roseville are newer builds, which could be a con if you prefer a home with more character and style.
Plus, the constant growth in the area leaves a bit of a construction vibe which really lowers the curb appeal in the area.
A big part of Roseville resembles a “concrete jungle,” leaving a lot of the gorgeous parts of California kind of under wraps.
In addition, you’ll probably end up near some sort of construction site if you’re wanting to move into the newer, ever-growing areas of Roseville.
If you’re not really interested in seeing the city grow and settling into a newer home, Roseville probably doesn’t have a lot to offer.
3. Expensive Homes
The average cost of a home in Roseville right now is about $587,300 and is likely to continue rising in the next several years.
However, along with higher home prices come some great benefits—Roseville homes have lots of square footage so really give you a lot of bang for your buck.
Plus, if you love resort-style living, there are tons of options for that in and near Roseville as it’s got lots of golf courses and gorgeous new builds going up.
So, if you’re prepared to pay for it, Roseville is actually pretty affordable for California when you consider cost vs. benefits.
4. Pollution
Roseville is a large, densely populated area with a high traffic velocity.
That means it’s going to be pretty polluted as well. Lots of cars and construction sites definitely leave the air a bit smoggy, which may be pretty difficult for some people to live with. Plus, Roseville isn’t too far from the many fires that hit California each year which only adds to the pollution.
Keep in mind, though, that pollution is a problem in most big cities in California or otherwise, so if you’re looking to escape it, you’ll probably want to consider a smaller city in the area.
