Of course, Folsom is also a popular tourist destination with the gorgeous Folsom Lake and tons of park spaces, so you can expect some months during the summer to be even busier than usual with lots of tourists from out of town.
2. Busy Construction
Folsom is growing, which could provide you with great opportunities if you’re looking to build a new home or set up in a thriving economy. However, this also means that there are a lot of construction projects in the area.
If you buy a home in Folsom, you’re likely to be near at least one construction site. If you don’t like the idea of living near a busy construction zone and hearing power tools and cranes moving around nearby, you may want to avoid Folsom.

If you’re not able to invest a lot of money in a home, don’t buy in Folsom. However, if you can, the market is sure to continually improve over the next few years so a new home is probably a great investment.
6. Far from Sacramento
While still a part of the Greater Sacramento Metropolitan Area, Folsom is pretty far from Downtown Sacramento. If you’re wanting to work and play in Sacramento, Folsom isn’t the best option.
There is a light rail that runs from Folsom to Sacramento, but it’s pretty crowded and does bring with it some homeless people, so it’s not the most attractive transportation option. However, it can work if you’re in need of a great home and don’t care that you’ll have a fairly long commute.
