Background
Dublin, which was formerly, Amador and Dougherty’s Station, is located in the Tri-Valley area and it sits between Pleasanton and San Ramon. It can be accessed from either the 580 or 680 freeway.
History
In 1835, José María Amador was granted 16,500 acres for his service as a Mexican soldier and in Mission San Jose where he was an administrator in the valley which was named Amador Valley after him. 1850, Irish settlers bought land from Amador and founded a town.
Several historical sites are preserved and located where Dublin Boulevard is crossed by Donlon Way, itself formerly the northernmost segment of the main road to Sunol and Niles Canyon (present-day Foothill Road):
Murray Schoolhouse (established in 1856 with 50 pupils)
Green’s Store (opened in 1860) current home of the Dublin Church of Christ.
The old cemetery was formally established in 1859, although people had been buried in the churchyard for years before 1859.
From Dublin, you’re only 40 to 50 miles away from the San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and the Santa Cruz beach area. It’s just a two-hour drive to the Napa Valley wine country. For summer lake activities and winter ski sports, you’re just a four-hour drive away to the beautiful Lake Tahoe area.

A lot of the growth for Dublin CA began in the late 1990s. This is when they started building over on the East side, off of 580. The home builders included Toll Brothers, Shea, Lennar, K&B, and Brookfield Homes. You’ll find a mixture of condos, town homes, and single-family, detached houses. Most of these properties have HOAs and you’ll find amenities such as swimming poles, tennis courts, walking trails, and golf.
Communities with a view
Originally, Dublin’s residential community consisted of 10 subdivisions located in the central area of Dublin. This included single-family ranch and two-story homes.
Hanson Ridge
Over on the West side Hills of Dublin, you’re going to find some subdivisions up there that have some amazing views of canyons, as well as some of the city areas.

The Silicon Valley area is the tech center for companies like Facebook, Google, LinkedIn, etc. Dublin’s house prices are basically half of what you’ll find in that area.
Dublin has several different types of restaurants. One of the areas my wife and I like to go for shopping, dining, and entertainment is the Hacienda Crossings. We make a day of it by doing a little shopping, then have a bite to eat and end off the day by watching a movie (Regal cinema).

There’s approximately 12,000 students in Dublin’s public school system, and that’s from K to 12. Now, the ratio of students to teachers is just 24 to one. To find out more information as far as their scores and ratings, please look at the Dublin Unified School District.
BART

BART stands for Bay Area Rapid Transit. These are electric trains that travel from Dublin to several other Bay area cities, including San Francisco. They don’t take you down to the Silicon Valley area. What I recommend is taking the commuter (ACE) train from Pleasanton to Santa Clara, San Jose area. From there, you should be able to take a bus or a Lyft to your destination. Many of these companies have their own commuter bus that takes their employees from the Tri-Valley area, all the way to their work campus.

Overall, like all the cities in the Tri-Valley area, Dublin is a very safe and friendly city to live in.

Dublin’s fast growth puts a stress on their infrastructure
Number 1: Dublin is a fast growing city
It’s no secret Dublin has been rated as one of the fastest growing cities in the country. This can be a pro and it can also be a con. I chose to discuss it in the cons section, and the reason why is, rapid growth like this puts a stress on a city’s infrastructure and particularly, the road systems. This growth creates a stress on the traffic in Dublin and especially in the commute hours on Dublin Boulevard. It can be difficult to get through there, and that can be morning, as well as in the afternoon or early evenings.
BART parking can be difficult

BART is definitely a feature or a pro for Dublin. However, BART has limited parking, especially in the commute time. If you plan on taking the morning train in for work, you’ll need to get to the station early enough to find a place to park. If you can get a ride, great. However, if you can’t, you might just want to take a Lyft or Uber to the station.
Dublin’s housing prices are about double compared to Tracy California
Number 3:Dublin’s high housing cost
Yes, I said compared to Silicon Valley, it’s actually half the cost. However, if you take the same distance and go East over to Tracy to buy a home over there, it’s half the cost of what it would cost you in Dublin. So you have to understand that where you are, it’s cheaper in some areas, but it’s also a lot more compared to other areas.
Yes, you can have dinner and a movie, however, if you’re planning to go out in the evening for dancing, comedy, concerts, professional sports events, you’re not going to be able to find this in Dublin.
