Of all the Lake Tahoe Ski Resorts, Kirkwood for many is the most unique and special. It is thought of as having a big mountain feel in a small resort setting. The locals say what separates Kirkwood from the rest of the Lake Tahoe Ski Resorts is its K-factor. This meaning will vary, however it is understood that in a powder day, Kirkwood usually has the best snow compared to all the other Lake Tahoe Ski Resorts!

It is located off Highway 88.

Kirkwood information and facts:

Kirkwood Ski Resort offers 2,000 feet of vertical drop and over 2,300 acres of terrain.

Kirkwood has something for everybody.

They have a complete lesson program to handle all abilities.

They also offer numerous workshops from 2-day ski clinics to backcountry skiing.

Dining:

  • Monte Wolfe’s Kitchen-is cafeteria style Located
  • In front of Monte Wolfe’s kitchen is an outdoor grill for hamburgers and hot dogs K Bar
  • Full bar Off the Wall Bar and Grill – sit down dining
  • Red Cliff Day Lodge – for events & breakfast

Some lift information:

  • Chair #1 – located next to Monte Wolfe’s Kitchen is for beginners, (it’s one of three chairs to access the resort backside area)
  • Chairs #5 & 11 – for intermediate (some advanced runs)
  • Chairs #6 & 10 – for advanced and expert levels
  • Chair #7 – located at Timber Creek Lodge, (this is found at the entrance of the resort and is where the ski school is located)

What Heavenly has to offer in the winter

Lake Tahoe Ski Resorts, Heavenly Valley has several different locations to access the resort.

Heavenly is the largest Lake Tahoe’s Ski Resort and rated the 5th largest in North America. Heavenly is spread out over two states, Nevada and California.

The ski resort offers 4,800 ski able acres 3,500 vertical feet 10, 067 feet in elevation, (the highest in Lake Tahoe)

Heavenly Ski Resorts Lift Chair Information:

  • 26 lift chairs Nine are high speed lifts
  • One gondola lift located at Heavenly Village
  • One aerial tram located in the California side area

Heavenly Ski Resort also offers other activities for non-skiers:

  • Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster
  • Scenic gondola and tram rides to access the observation deck
  • Tubing

Heavenly Village has over 40 shops, boutiques and stores. They range from ski rentals to specialty boutiques selling unique and rare art. Numerous restaurants and food areas; from free standing kiosks to get a snack, to full-service sit-down dining. They also have numerous beverage places such as Starbucks. A movie theater complex, featuring 8 screens. Ice-skating in the winter and miniature golf in the summer.
